Producer & Writer, Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse
Phil Lord is a producer and writer for Sony Pictures Animation's latest feature film, the Academy Award®-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” He and Chris Miller are the prolific multi-hyphenate duo behind some of today’s most successful films and television series including "The Lego Movie," franchise, "21 Jump Street" and "22 Jump Street," "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and the television series “The Last Man on Earth.” Known for their unique sensibilities and maverick mindset as writer-producer-directors, Lord and Miller have spent their careers pushing the boundaries of creativity to deliver a fresh, unexpected perspective with each of their projects. Their projects have successfully drawn in audiences of all demographics time and time again, have garnered over $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office and have earned them an Academy Award, an Emmy nomination, multiple BAFTA’s and Critics Choice Awards. Up next, they are developing to direct the feature The Last Human for Sony and Artemis, based on the novel by The Martian author Andy Weir for Fox and New Regency. Their most recent television project, the animated series Bless The Harts, created by Emily Spiveypremieres on Fox this fall.
Lord graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a degree in Art History. His college animated short "Man Bites Breakfast" won “Best Animation” at the 1998 New England Film and Video Festival and was also included in several other festivals, including ASIFA East and ASIFA San Francisco. He is a native of Coconut Grove, Florida, and likes bikes.
Producer, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Christina Steinberg is a producer for Sony Pictures Animation's latest feature film, the Academy Award®-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”
Prior to joining Sony Pictures Animation, Steinberg worked at DreamWorks Animation for 12 years where she most recently produced “Trollhunters,” a Netflix Original series created and directed by Guillermo del Toro. Steinberg also served as the executive producer for “Bee Movie” alongside Jerry Seinfeld, and “Rise of the Guardians,” which both received numerous Best Animated Feature nominations from various organizations including the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the Producers Guild of America and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Steinberg began her entertainment career as a production creative executive for Touchstone Pictures and rose to the role of senior vice president of production. At Touchstone, Steinberg oversaw numerous feature films and collaborated with filmmakers including Robert Redford, Penny Marshall, and Jerry Bruckheimer. In 1998, Steinberg joined Junction Entertainment, where she partnered with Director Jon Turteltaub and served as the co-producer for “Instinct,” producer for “The Kid,” and executive producer for the hit “National Treasure” franchise.
Steinberg is a graduate of The Spence School in Manhattan and graduated with a B.A. from Cornell University.
Story Artist, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Miguel Jiron is a story artist at Sony Pictures Animation, who most recently worked on the studio's latest feature film, the Academy Award®-winning“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Jiron also directed an original short titled “Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham,” for the home entertainment release of the film.
Jiron has directed several animated shorts, which have screened at film festivals around the world including SXSW, Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Slamdance, Ottawa International Animated Film Festival, and Toronto International Film Festival. He has also painted for artist Takashi Murakami.
In 2015, Jiron was named one of Variety's Top Animators to Watch, and in 2018, one of Animation Magazine's Rising Stars.

4th Annual Ground Zero Animation Expo 2019
LatinX in Animation is excited to announce that we will be an official sponsor for the 4th Annual Ground Zero Animation Expo 2019.
Ground Zero Animation Expo is an annual event held in Orange County, CA. For the 2019 4th Annual GZA Expo it will be held at The Boys and Girls Club of Stanton, and will take place June 8th and June 9th from 10AM - 6PM.
The Expo caters to those interested in breaking into the animation industry or anyone who appreciates animated films, shows, and shorts. The event also focuses on all parts of the industry from illustration, publishing, stop motion, fabricating and claymation/puppetry to character design, 3D modeling, prop/background design and much more.
Industry professionals are there to share all day at their tables, through panels, demos, lectures, workshop and during unique one on interactions. Ground Zero is a grassroots show that has a big impact.

Walt Disney Inspire Day 2019
Congratulations to our seven LXiA Student members who participating in Walt Disney Animation Studios Inspire Day 2019! Walt Disney Animation Studios hosted over 150 students from over 150 schools for Inspire Day 2019, where they shared a behind the scenes look at the studio. Students spent an entire day at the studio where they learned about different roles and career paths related to Art, Animation, Technology, Business, and Production.
