Liron Topaz

Liron Topaz was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and fell in love with animation when he was 6 years old. After many years of traditional Art education, he decided to pursue his dream and studied Animation at the Ringling School of Art and Design. Topaz had the great opportunity to be selected by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science, for an Animation internship at Sony Pictures Imageworks. After graduation he continued at Sony Imageworks as a Character Animator on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Topaz then joined DreamWorks Animation and worked on projects such as How to Train Your Dragon franchise, The Croods, and Kung Fu Panda franchise, where he was a character lead for Master Oogway. Besides animating, Topaz also enjoys teaching animation, and passing on the knowledge and experience he got on his journey. In the past few years, he has been teaching animation at Frame By Frame Animation online, and has been a guest speaker, around the world, including SIGGRAPH - Bogota, Colombia, and Nemo Academy - Florence, Italy. Topaz made his co-directing debut with the animated short film, Bilby. Bilby has gone on to screen at film festivals worldwide and win several awards including Jury’s Choice at SIGGRAPH 2018 Computer Animation Festival, and named to the 2019 Oscar shortlist for Animated Short.

Pierre Perifel

Pierre Perifel was born in Burgundy, France and his passion for animation began in high school. He attended Gobelins, L'École de L'Image in Paris, and graduated in 2005. His thesis film, Le Building, used a combination of 2D and 3D animation, and was screened at international film festivals and won several awards. Perifel's earliest films include Curious George, Nocturna, Go West: A Lucky Luke Adventure, and The Illusionist. Perifel moved to the US in 2008 and began his career at DreamWorks Animation doing character animation on the 2D short film, Secrets of the Furious Five. He later transitioned to CGI, working on Monsters vs. Aliens, Shrek Forever After, and returning to 2D animation with a few sequences in Kung Fu Panda 2. Perifel was a supervising animator on Rise of the Guardians, and his work on both Rise of the Guardians and Kung Fu Panda 2 earned him Annie Award nominations. Perifel made his co-directing debut with the animated short film, Bilby. Bilby has gone on to screen at film festivals worldwide and win several awards including Jury’s Choice at SIGGRAPH 2018 Computer Animation Festival, and named to the 2019 Oscar shortlist for Animated Short.

Juan Pablo Sans

JP Sans was born in Caracas, Venezuela and at an early age began drawing and watching a lot of cartoons and animated movies. He moved to Florida when he was 10 without a word of English, and the language barrier pushed him to draw more. As he grew older, he took as many drawing classes as he could and some acting classes, which strengthened his pursuit of animation. He enrolled at Miami International University of Art and Design where he studied Computer Animation, and fell more in love with characterization and story-telling. His first break came when he joined Blue Sky Studios, later moving to DreamWorks Animation in 2011. Sans' most notable work has been on Rio, Rise of the Guardians, and the Ice Age franchise. With the recent launch of DreamWorks Animation Shorts Program, Sans made his co-directing debut with the animated short film, Bilby. Bilby has gone on to screen at film festivals worldwide and win several awards including Jury’s Choice at SIGGRAPH 2018 Computer Animation Festival, and named to the 2019 Oscar shortlist for Animated Short.
